Today, I came across clixpy.com (which I pronounce “click spy”, hope I’m right?). It’s a service to track the visitors/users of your website. All you have to do it to include a small javascript snippet and clixpy will start recording user sessions including mouse movements, clicks, form inputs.
I tried it on heardontv.com and got 10 user sessions in less than 5 minutes. Watching the sessions could be very interesting to better understand how the user navigates the site - although it will never be as good as watching and discussing directly with the user in person.
I wonder if there is some security issue with their javascript. I found no place on their website where I tell what are the domains where I plan to put the script. It seems you can put it wherever. But that means that anyone can take your script, put it in their site and quickly you’ll see your credits expire with sessions recorded for a site you don’t know - I hope I’m wrong but it looks like it could happen.
Anyway it’s quite and if they expand their UI, bring more statistics and control over the sessions I might buy some.
