Nasa World Wind (simlar to Google Earth) now available as a Java open source component, a simple bean you can have in your Netbeans palette and drop on a frame, add some bindings, some event listeners and voila you got your own Google Earth plus it looks like the map data is now public domain and free to use! A demo of an aircraft flying around the World Wind, very very good!

Richard Bair, Jasper Potts on stage to demo IRIS… some technical difficulties… but it’s a photo editor talking to Flickr, a Java applet is embedded in the HTML to implement the interactions between the web browser and Flickr. Demo of 3D fullscreen slideshow right from the web browser, looks like Sun is going back on track with desktop Java. Then the same demo is shown but this time built with JavaFX, it shows smooth animation, zooming effects than the web browser did not have, sweet and beautiful.
